WHAT IS RF SHIELDING ?
Isolating unwanted wireless frequency
WHAT IS A SHIELD BOX ?
Box or enclosure to provides isolation from outside unwanted wireless frequencies and provides known controlled environment for various wireless technology testing.
WHAT IS THE USE OF SHIELD BOX ?
Shield Box is used for performance / reliability charaterization of Wireless / Cellular / IoT Devices. In order to test these devices for precise test output with repeatability one has to carry out tested in an isolated environment. Shielded test enclosures provide a convinient and economical way to do this. Connventionally, this was done in an anechoic chamber which is a considerabliy large room and is comparatively very expensive. Shield Boxes come in different size / shape and mount options i.e. : Rack Mount Shield Boxes for Vertical Test Setups , Bech-top Shield Boxes , Stand-alone Portable Shield Boxes on Wheels.
WHAT ARE DIFFERENT NAMES OF SHIELD BOX?
Test chamber, RF test chamber
WHAT ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF SHIELD BOXES ?
"SHIELD BOXES CAN BE CLASSIFIED BASED ON TEHCNOLOGY / APPLICATION & USE.
STANDARD PRACTICE IS TO IDENTIFY THEM BASED ON THEIR USE , HENCE TEY CAN BE CLASSIFIED AS BELOW
RACK MOUNT SHIELD BOXES ,
BENCH-TOP SHIELD BOXES ,
STAND-ALONE PORTABLE SHIELD BOXES"
WHAT IS RF SHIELD ROOM ?
RF Shield room is a sturcture built to provide the necessary RF quiet environment wherein one can CARRY OUT many different application tests such as EMC, wireless technology on automotive or military vehicles, MRI scans, etc.
WHAT IS WALK-IN CHAMBER ?
RF Shield Room large enough to house lab appratus with personnels operating inside is called Walk in chamber.
WHAT IS ANECHOIC CHAMBER ?
RF Shield Room equipped with RF Absorber Foam to absorb the internal reflcations / reverberations is called An-echoic chamber.
HOW DO I COMPARE SHIELD BOXES FROM THE DATASHEET ?
Shield box being an important integral part of your test setup it is critical to ensure the performance and quality of the shield box for your test requirements.
One needs to ensure following KPIs before concluding on the shield box.
- Desired External and Internal Dimensions based on the space available in the lab area
- Shielding Effectiveness @ Different Frequencies ?
- Conditions based on which the OEM has claimed the Shielding effectiveness as many vendor carry out tests on the shield box without actual I/Os using blank cover plate to achieve maximum shielding effectiveness ?
- Set of I/Os Required ?
- Whether the Shield box is ready for future technologies / test requirements ?
CAN I TEST BLUETOOTH / WI-FI DEVICES WITH THE SHIELD BOX ?
Yes, Our Shield Boxes are carefully designed and manufcatured to provide Isolation ( Shielding Effectiveness ) above > 120 dB in standsrd BT/Wi-Fi Frequency Range.
CAN I USE THE SHIELD BOXES TO TEST mmWave Devices ?
Yes, We Shield Boxes mmWave Specific I/Os and RF Foam to cater for testing the mmWave Devices ?
PCS will accommodate a wide range of services for small areas such as data networking within office buildings with wireless Local Area Networks (LANs), wireless private branch exchanges (PBXs), personal digital assistants, laptop computers, portable facsimile machines, wireless replacements for portions of the wireline telephone network, and other kinds of short-range communications. Terminal devices will be a new generation of cordless telephones that operate without centralized base stations and will be limited to very low power and range enabling spectrum to be reused efficiently. Unlicensed PCS is particularly suitable for office-wide and campus-wide services. In addition, equipment manufacturers do not have to wait for the development of standards since they can design proprietary products for their clients. The FCC has allocated spectrum for unlicensed PCS in the 1910 to 1930 MHZ band.
Throughput Testing of PCS Device / DUT / UE (User Equipment) requires a controlled environment free from uncontrolled / ambient interference. You can provide such an isolated and controlled environment with the use of High Isolation Shield Boxes and Anechoic Chambers Manufactured by RF Electronics.
